Join our Aboriginal art expert Roslyn Premont and local guide, Jungala in the spiritual heartland of Australia.
The week is an exploration of aboriginal art and culture with unique opportunities to meet the locals and explore the outback.
We will be spending the first 3 nights and 2 days in Alice Springs where you will get the chance to be part of the Beanie Festival events. The Alice Springs Beanie Festival is a community- based event that began in 1997 with a ‘beanie party'. The festival was organised to sell beanies crocheted by Aboriginal women in remote communities. It has grown into a fun event where Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal artists share their culture and exhibit together.
What is a beanie? It is a snug crochet hat to keep
your head warm in winter, and in Alice and outback Australia it is a work of art in itself.
After the Beanie Festival we will begin a journey to Kings Canyon and then on to Uluru.
You will be 'glamping' (camping in comfort) in Aboriginal outback outstations where you will get first hand knowledge and appreciate the sheer beauty of the outback.
You can expect some magical evenings under the stars and walks out to experience culture and explore country with our local guides. For further information about the week see the programme below.
